BEIJING, June 1 (ChinaMil) -- The preparatory work of the International Army Games 2017 is steadily advancing, according to the Training and Administration Department of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), May 31, 2017.

The Chinese preparatory group has completed such works as investigation of competition sites, formation of participating teams and selection of weapons and equipment, and the renovation and expansion of the sites and ancillary facilities is in progress according to the plan, said leaders from the CMC Training and Administration Department.

A number of teams from the PLA Army, Navy and Air Force are conducting targeted training and the referees are also in training. The preparatory work for organizing troops to go abroad to participate in the competition is also in progress.

The competition will be held from July 29 to August 12 this year in China, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.

The International Army Games is an international military event hosted by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Chinese military has been invited for three consecutive years since 2014.

This year's competition has a total of 28 events and six of them will be held in China. The Chinese delegation will compete for nine events abroad.

The six events, i.e. the Suvorov Attack, Clear Sky, Safe Environment, Gunsmith Master, Aviation Darts and Airborne Platoon, will be held respectively in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Jilin Province and Hubei Province. This is the first time that China hosts this event.

The participating teams can use the Chinese equipment or bring their own weapons and equipment whose technical performances are equivalent to those provided by the Chinese side.

Teams who participate in Aviation Darts competition are responsible for their own weapons, equipment and ammunition. In Airborne Platoon competition, the Chinese side will provide weapons, equipment and ammunition in addition to airborne fighting vehicles.

Not long ago, the CMC Training and Administration Department held a press conference on the preparatory work of the International Army Games 2017 in Beijing.

During the press conference, foreign military attachés to China were briefed regarding the preparatory work, and militaries of all countries were invited to come to China to participate in the competition and to observe.
