Picture shows the 5th Armored Infantry Company of a combined arms brigade under the PLA 79th Group Army in a field training exercise. Its predecessor was the 7th Company, 347th Regiment, 116th Division, 39th Army of the CPV. In December of 1950, during the Third Campaign of the War to resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 7th Company was among the first echelon to break through the defense lines the ROK army built along the Imjin River. Soldiers of the company only took 11 minutes to wade cross the waist-deep icy water of the Imjin River with a width of more than 100 meters and seized the enemy frontline positions. After the battle, the 7th Company was awarded the honorary title of the “Hero Company in Imjin River Breakthrough Battle”. (PLA Daily/Photo by An Donghai)
