Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi remarked in a Diet debate that a Taiwan emergency could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" warranting Japan's exercise of the right of collective self-defense, implying Japan's possible military involvement in the Taiwan Strait. Despite China's repeated solemn representations, the Japanese side has shown no remorse and has refused to retract these erroneous statements. The egregious and malicious nature of its intentions is fully revealed by her series of wrongful actions.

Sanae Takaichi has now become the first Japanese leader since Japan's defeat in 1945 to openly promote in an official setting the notion that "a Taiwan emergency is a Japanese emergency," to explicitly link it to the exercise of collective self-defense, to express ambitions of a potential armed intervention in the Taiwan question, and to issue a military threat against China.

From her repeated visits to the Yasukuni Shrine, to her denial of the Nanjing Massacre, and to her relentless hyping of the so-called China threat theory, Sanae Takaichi has not only demonstrated a fundamental ignorance of history and reality, but also revealed alarming signs of a resurgence of militarism, along with an ambition to interfere by force in China's process of national reunification.

For some time, right-wing politicians in Japan have colluded with "Taiwan independence" forces, repeatedly hyping up the narrative that "a Taiwan emergency is a Japanese emergency" and peddling the so-called China threat theory. Such maneuvers reveal their geopolitical ambition to use Taiwan as a strategic fulcrum and to undermine the post-war international order established on Japan's defeat. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the recovery of Taiwan. In the past, compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait stood shoulder to shoulder, fought bravely, and ultimately defeated the invaders. Today, we will never tolerate the dark remnants of history resurfacing.

We Chinese people do not provoke trouble, yet we never flinch when trouble comes our way. China must and will be reunified. This is the historical trend that can be held back by no one and no force. Any attempt to relive the old militarist dream or to provoke China by using Taiwan as a pawn is no less suicidal than a mantis trying to stop a chariot. Any "political clown" who seeks to interfere in China's internal affairs and fish for political gains by exploiting the Taiwan question will inevitably be spurned by all Chinese people.

In recent years, China's national security authorities have uncovered multiple espionage cases involving Japanese intelligence agencies attempting to infiltrate China and steal state secrets, effectively safeguarding China's core classified information and firmly defending national sovereignty, security, and development interests. The authorities will thwart all sinister schemes to split the country and oppose any despicable acts of external forces to meddle in China's internal affairs or undermine regional peace and stability.
