CMC vice chairman Zhang Youxia meets with Lao, Mongolian guests

BEIJING, Oct. 28 -- On October 28, General Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), met in Beijing respectively with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Chansamone Chanyalath and Mongolian Minister of Defense Gursed Saikhanbayar, who are attending the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China.

When meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Chansamone Chanyalath, Gen. Zhang said that China is ready to work with Laos to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and two countries, carry forward the traditional friendship, firmly safeguard each other's core interests, and work together to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, so as to bring more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.

The Chinese and Lao militaries are expected to continuously strengthen exchanges at all levels, expand cooperation in multiple fields including border defense, political work, joint exercises and training, so as to enhance mutual trust of the two militaries, safeguard common security, and promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of mil-to-mil relationship, said Gen. Zhang.

Chansamone Chanyalath said that Laos firmly adheres to the one-China policy, highly appreciates and firmly supports China's important role in international and regional affairs, and is willing to work together with China to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship between the two countries and the two militaries.

Prior to the talks, Gen. Zhang held a welcoming ceremony for Chansamone Chanyalath and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

When meeting with Mongolian Minister of Defense Gursed Saikhanbayar, Gen. Zhang said that China-Mongolia relationship has maintained a good momentum of development in recent years.Next year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Mongolia diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of the amendment to the friendship and cooperation treaty between the two countries. It is hoped that the two sides will take this opportunity to strengthen strategic communication and firmly promote the steady and long-term development of bilateral relationship in the new era.

The Chinese military is willing to work with its Mongolian counterpart to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, work together to implement the Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and jointly inject positive energy into regional security and stability, said Gen. Zhang.

Speaking highly of the significance of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum,Gursed Saikhanbayar said Mongolia resolutely supports the Global Security Initiative and looks forward to deepening practical cooperation with China to promote the healthy and stable development of relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
