Chinese Defense Minister meets with UAE Air Force and Air Defense Commander

BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Li Shangfu met with visiting Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defense Major General Ibrahim Nasser Mohamed Al-Alawi in Beijing on Tuesday.

General Li said under the strategic guidance of President Xi and President Mohammed, China-UAE relations have experienced rapid, stable and healthy development, China's Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) and UAE's "Designing the Next 50" development plan are highly consistent with each other, and the practical cooperation between the two countries has brought tangible benefits to their people.

General Li noted that China is willing to work with the UAE to implement the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state and build China-UAE relations into a model of state-to-state relations. With the care and support of the two heads of state, the development of military relations between the two countries has entered the fast lane and the exchanges and cooperation in various fields have also achieved gratifying results. The two air forces have carried out fruitful cooperation in recent years, adding new dimensions to the mil-to-mil relations. China is ready to work with the UAE to further deepen their military cooperation.

Major General Ibrahim said the UAE and China possess solid political mutual trust and brotherly friendship, and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries has reached an unprecedented high level. He stressed that the UAE is willing to continue deepening strategic mutual trust with China, strengthen cooperation in various fields, and further consolidate and promote the development of relations between the two air forces.
