BEIJING, Oct. 30 -- The opening ceremony of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum was held at the Beijing International Convention Center on Monday.
A record-breaking number of participants from more than 100 countries and international organizations attended this event, including representatives at the defense minister-level or higher, military chiefs and experts.
Under the theme of "Common Security, Lasting Peace", the forum will closely focus on the security concerns of the international community, including hot security issues and key cooperation directions in the Global Security Initiative, and will encourage parties to oppose contradictions and confrontations, boost trust and dissolve mistrust, and enhance exchanges, solidarity and cooperation.
General Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by General Yang Xuejun, chairman of China Association for Military Sciences.
The 1st plenary session with the theme of Major Countries' Responsibility and Global Security Cooperation was held after the opening ceremony.
