Chinese defense minister meets with commander of Royal Thai Army

BEIJING, June 10 -- Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Li Shangfu met with Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Narongpan Jitkaewtae, in Beijing on the morning of June 10.

General Li pointed out that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Thailand relations have developed from "family-like bond" to "a community with a shared future", adding new dimensions to bilateral relationship in the new era and bringing strong vigor and vitality.

General Li noted that as an important part of bilateral relations, the mil-to-mil relations between China and Thailand enjoy a sound development momentum. China is willing to work with Thailand to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and host important cooperation projects such as the "Commando 2023" joint army training and the "Peace and Friendship 2023" multinational joint exercise, so as to achieve more good results in practical cooperation between the two militaries, especially between the two ground forces.

"At present, the Asia-Pacific region is faced with some security challenges. China is willing to work together with Thailand to maintain regional stability and ensure lasting peace and stability in the region," stressed General Li.

General Narongpan said that Thailand and China are good neighbors, good friends, good relatives and good partners, with fruitful cooperation results achieved in high-level exchanges, economy, trade, culture and other fields. Thailand thanks China for its strong support and valuable assistance in all aspects, and appreciates and firmly supports China's important role in safeguarding regional security and stability. The Thai side is willing to make concerted efforts with the Chinese side to carry forward the special friendship as close as one family, and write a new chapter in the relations between the two countries and two militaries.
