The General Staff Headquarters (GSH), the General Political Department (GPD), the General Logistics Department (GLD) and the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) jointly issued the “Opinions on Strengthening the Psychological Service Work of the PLA under New Situations” recently.

　　According to the Opinions, the psychological service for the troops should be carried out orderly and effectively in the army.

　　The Opinions gave detailed definitions on the significance of psychological service work in the troops, the principles to be followed in providing psychological service, the building of the psychological service workers contingent, the operational mechanism and organization and leadership of the psychological serviced work.

　　The Opinions also regularized the main tasks and contents of the psychological service for the troops from 8 aspects, namely, do a good job in educating and popularizing psychological knowledge, carry out psychological tests and evaluation, organize psychological health training, conduct psychological consultations, carry out mental disease diagnosis and treatment, implement psychological crisis interference, do a good job in psychological service during important missions and enhance psychological protection in wartime.
