At 08:00 a.m. on November 12, local time, the “Ma’anshan” warship and the “Wenzhou” warship of the 4th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived at the sea area of the Gulf of Aden smoothly.
Since setting sail from Zhoushan Islands in east China’s Zhejiang Province on October 30, the 4th Chinese naval escort taskforce has passed through the Taiwan Straits, the Singapore Strait and the Strait of Malacca in succession and then entered the Indian Ocean, covering more than 5,680 nautical miles in total in 14 days.
During the sailing, the taskforce encountered the strongest cold wave, typhoon and low-pressure cyclone of this winter. To ensure the safe sailing and the punctual arrival to the designated sea area, the taskforce adjusted the navigating routes and speed for three times in succession and maintained high-speed sailing amidst strong wind and waves for 220 hours.
