10th defense and security consultation between China and Thailand held in Beijing

  BEIJING, June 16 (ChinaMil) -- Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and Surasak Kanjanarat, the acting vice-minister of the Thai Ministry of National Defense, held the 10th defense and security consultation between the defense ministries of China and Thailand in Beijing on the afternoon of June 12, 2014.

  Wang Guanzhong expressed gratitude to the Thai side for the great support on issues involving China's core interests.

  Wang Guanzhong noted that as international and regional situations are complex and changeable, it is very important for China and Thailand to maintain peace and stability in the region by strengthening dialogues, exchanges and cooperation.

  Wang Guanzhong said that China values the traditional friendship between China and Thailand, and will as always consolidate and develop the China-Thailand friendly ties. The two militaries should continue the close personnel exchanges, strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and explore new points of growth in exchanges and cooperation.

  Wang Guanzhong also said that China sincerely hopes that Thailand will have a stable situation, and concentrates on developing economy, so as to improve people's livelihood.

  Surasak said that no matter how situations will change, the Thai side will always attach importance to the relationship between the two countries and the two militaries, continue to strengthen higher-level mutual visits and communication with the Chinese PLA, deepen cooperation in the joint exercise and training, and keep expanding the fields of exchanges and cooperation.

  Surasak added that Thailand is now undergoing a hard time, and the Thai military hopes to push forward the domestic reconciliation process, safeguard national stability and development, and bring happiness, peace and health to the people.
