Fang Fenghui holds talks with Lao counterpart

  BEIJING, September 11 (ChinaMil) -- Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Suwin, the visiting chief of general staff of the Lao People's Army (LPA), in Beijing on the afternoon of September 10, 2014.

  Fang Fenghui said that China and Laos always enjoy the relations of friendly contacts, equal mutual treatment, going through thick and thin together, hand-in-hand cooperation and mutual support.

       The Chinese side thanks the Lao side for its long-term firm support on issues concerning China's core interests.

  Fang Fenghui mentioned that the two militaries of China and Laos have been keeping a sound momentum of development for many years, as evidenced by the pragmatic cooperation in aspects such as high-level mutual visits as well as military training and education.

       The Chinese military is willing to work together with the Lao military to continuously strengthen contacts at various levels and deepen the pragmatic cooperation in fields of education and training, personnel training, border management and medical treatment on the basis of consolidating the existing cooperation, so as to constantly push forward the in-depth development of the relations between the two militaries and strive to establish the military relations conforming to the overall strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries.

  Fang Fenghui also introduced China's views on the security situation in the Asia-Pacific region and expressed that the Chinese side will adhere to the Asian security view of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable advocated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and make joint efforts with the Lao side to make positive contributions to allowing various countries in Asia to step on a commonly built, mutually shared and win-win road of Asian security.

  Suwin thanked the support and assistance that the Chinese people and Chinese military offered.

       He expressed that the relations between the two militaries and the two countries have been keeping a sound momentum of development and that the Lao side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to strengthen the cooperation in fields such as mutual delegation/team visits at various levels, exchanges among military colleges and academies, and talent training, so as to constantly expand the traditional friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation relations.

   Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcoming ceremony for Suwin's visit to China and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the PLA.
