"Joint Action-2014A" exercise held in South China Sea

  GUANGZHOU, September 24 (ChinaMil) -- The actual-troop military exercise codenamed the “Joint Action-2014A” jointly held by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), the PLA Air Force (PLAAF) and the PLA Second Artillery Force was successfully held in the waters of the South China Sea on September 23, 2014.

  The exercise focused on a range of subjects, including joint commanding of maritime operation based on information system, air-defense and anti-submarine, conventional missile strike and information countermeasure. It tested the joint combat pattern, military tactics and training methods of various services and arms on a multi-dimension battlefield.

  Initiated by the PLA Navy, the exercise involved the main forces of the PLA Navy, the PLAAF and the PLA Second Artillery Force, along with other forces of reconnaissance satellite, electronic countermeasures, maritime patrol, as well as protection and rescue.

  According to a leader from a relevant department of the PLA General Staff Headquarters (GSH), the exercise is an annual routine military training of the PLA.
