PLA Navy ships wrap up visit to Hawaii

HAWAII, the United States, (ChinaMil) – The Chinese naval taskforce 152, composed of the guided-missile destroyer Jinan, guided-missile frigate Yiyang and supply ship Qiandaohu, wrapped up its successful goodwill visit to Hawaii on the afternoon of Dec. 17, 2015.

The taskforce arrived in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on the morning of Dec. 13. During the five-day visit, the Chinese and U.S. sailors visited each others’ warships, had football and basketball matches. Senior Captain Wang Jianxun, commanding officer of the Chinese naval taskforce, met with Rear Admiral John Fuller, commander of the U.S. Navy Region Hawaii.

He also led some officers of the taskforce to visit the USS Arizona Memorial to pay tribute to the U.S. sailors and marines killed during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

Commander Admiral Harry Harris of the U.S. Pacific Command paid a special visit to the Chinese guided-missile destroyer Jinan.

Hawaii is the 11th leg of the global voyage of the taskforce 152. Its next destination is Brisbane, Australia, according to schedule.
