KUNMING, May 12 (ChinaMil) -- The 15th Chinese peacekeeping construction engineer detachment to Lebanon held on Wednesday morning a ceremony to marking its upcoming expedition to Lebanon.

The 200-member detachment consists of two flat construction platoons, two three-dimensional construction platoons and one operational service support platoon.

The 200 troops are mainly selected from an engineer regiment of the 14th Combined Corps of the PLA Army. More than 80 percent of them ever participated in major operations including earthquake rescue and disaster relief, Sino-foreign joint military training, cross-region exercises and air-ground joint exercises.

In light of the complex and changing situations in the Middle East, the detachment has revised and improved relevant emergency plans and organized targeted drills.

The 15th Chinese peacekeeping construction engineer detachment will be deployed to the mission area in south Lebanon in two consecutive batches in late May to replace the 14th detachment. The mission period for the 15 detachment is 12 months..
