Defense minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina meets with Chinese military delegation

SARAJEVO, Aug. 18 (ChinaMil) -- Defense Minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina Marina Pendeš met with Rear Admiral Guan Youfei, director of the Office for International Military Cooperation under China's Defense Ministry, and his delegation in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, on August 16.

Pendeš welcomed the visiting Chinese military foreign affairs delegation and spoke highly of China's participation in the UN peacekeeping operations and its outstanding contributions to maintaining world peace and stability.

Bosnia-Herzegovina attaches great importance to the development of military-to-military relations between the two countries, and appreciates China's assistance to the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Pendeš said. She hoped that the two sides can maintain high-level contacts and deepen exchange and cooperation in such fields as UN peacekeeping operations, personnel training and demining operations.

Guan Youfei said that China is grateful to Bosnia-Herzegovina for its firm support on issues regarding China's core interests especially the Taiwan problem. China is willing to further deepen the military-to-military exchange and cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina in various fields, so as to inject positive impetus into the bilateral state relations, he added.

Before their meeting, Guan Youfei also held talks with Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina Lt. Gen. Anto Jeleč and Deputy Defense Minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina Boris Jerinić respectively.

The Chinese delegation also visited the peacekeeping training center of the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
