Russian media: China’s latest chemical reconnaissance vehicle to compete in Russia

BEIJING, August 2 (ChinaMil) -- The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that the Chinese People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) will bring the latest model of chemical reconnaissance vehicle to participate in the Safe Environment competition held in Russia during the International Army Games 2016, according to foreign media reports.

According to media reports on the website of the Sputnik News on July 28, it will be the first time for the Chinese team to showcase the performance of their new chemical reconnaissance vehicle. From July 25 to 28, they already had a test drive at the international range under extreme conditions.

The reports said that the Chinese reconnaissance vehicle is the Chinese version of the Russian BTR-80 armored vehicle, but it had been greatly improved in appearance and engine.

It is reported that organizers of games made adjustments and specifically designed the detour route for the Chinese team under the framework of the International Army Games.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Russia built the first range for driving chemical reconnaissance vehicles under extreme conditions for that competition.

Troops from Russia, Egypt, China and Kazakhstan will participate in Safe Environment competition. The International Army Games 2016 will run from July 30 to August 13.
