On the eve of the International Children’s Day which falls on June 1, the quake-relief troops of the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Yushu showed love to the children in quake-hit Yushu in various forms.
On the morning of May 31, the officers and men of a troop unit under the Lanzhou MAC performing post-quake reconstruction task in Yushu picked up 80-plus children of the Orphan School of the Yushu Prefecture to their barracks to spend the International Children’s Day together.
An infantry brigade set up 13 tent schools in the remote mountainous area. It also sent desks, chairs and blackboards to each school and provided all teaching materials and stationery to the students.
An artillery regiment sent 2 cooking vehicles to the Orphan School of Yushu Prefecture, organized Tibetan soldiers to cook milky tea and make zanba for the children, and projected classic revolutionary movies in the schools, so as to ensure the children to plunge into their study with full energy and pleasant mood.
Such facilities as power generator, cooking vehicle and cooking outfit are complete in Ganda Village Primary School, Jiegu Town, Yushu Prefecture. The quake relief troops also organized medical teams to give medical treatment and send medicines to the teachers and pupils of the tent schools.
Every tent school in the quake hit area was permeated with cheerful laughs of children on the eve of the International Children’s Day.
