S. KIVU, Congo (K), Sep. 1 (ChinaMil) -- The 19th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment to Congo (Kinshasa) has recently passed the fourth equipment inspection carried out by the United Nations, which is also the last inspection on the detachment during its mission period.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed between the United Nations and troop contributing countries, the UN carries out regular assessment and inspection on the combat-readiness of equipment and military apparatus of troop contributing countries.
The results of the inspection will be regarded as an important criterion for the UN to make economic compensation for relevant troop contributing countries, which is a matter of national interests and military image of each troop contributing country.
During the one-day inspection, seven UN inspectors conducted detailed inspection on the main equipment and self-maintained equipment of the Chinese peacekeeping detachment. operators of the detachment were required to carry out on-site operation demonstration so as to ensure that they were qualified to fulfill the UN-entrusted tasks.
Finally, all the equipment and apparatus of the Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment complied with UN’s relevant requirements.
