South China Sea Fleet opens warships to public visit in National Day holiday

ZHANJIANG, Oct. 8 (ChinaMil) -- The South China Sea Fleet under the Chinese PLA Navy opened its guided-missile destroyer Guangzhou and the guided-missile frigate Qujing to public visit in Zhanjiang, China's Guangdong province, from Oct. 1 to 3, the first three days of the past week-long National Day holiday.
 
On the morning of Oct. 1, in front of the guided-missile destroyer Guangzhou, 81-year-old Zhu Jiaxiong, who ever participated in the rush repair of the PLA Navy's warships during the Battle of the Xisha Islands in January, 1974, told the reporter that a sense of pride arose from the bottom of his heart when he set foot on the advanced guided missile destroyer for the first time.
 
Apart from the two warships, the history hall of the Fleet was also open to public during the three days, which is one of the national defense education bases of Guangdong province.
