BEIJING, Mar. 17 (ChinaMil) -- General Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department under the CMC, held a meeting with the chief of general staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau in Beijing on the morning of March 17, 2017.
General Fang Fenghui said that Chinese President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to developing friendly relations between China and Africa and stresses that China and Africa have always been a community of common destiny.
Although the relationship between China and Guinea Bissau has experienced some twists and turns, the two countries enjoy a friendship with broad popular opinion and social bases, Fang added.
In recent years, China and Guinea Bissau have been continuously consolidating the political mutual trust, making new progress in pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and offering firm support to each other on issues concerning the core interests of both sides, Fang said.
The Chinese side is willing to work with Guinea Bissau's side to maintain strategic communication between the two militaries, strengthen personnel training, expand cooperative areas, and promote the constant development of bilateral military relations on the existing basis.
The chief of general staff of the Armed Forces of Guinea-Bissau expressed that Guinea Bissau's side firmly adheres to the one-China policy and supports China's stance in major international affairs.
He said that the Guinea Bissau's side is willing to consolidate and deepen exchanges and cooperation with Chinese side in such fields as defensive security, military building, personnel training and so on, so as to promote the advancement of relations between the two militaries and the two countries.
General Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for the Guinea-Bissau's counterpart before the meeting and accompanied him to review the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
