Chinese air force chief meets with Tanzanian counterpart

BEIJING, April 25 (ChinaMil) -- Commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Ma Xiaotian met with Major General William Ingram, commander of the Air Force of the Tanzania People's Defense Force (TPDF), in Beijing on Monday afternoon.

Ma, who also is member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), said that since China and Tanzania established diplomatic relations in 1964, the two countries have forged a profound friendship and witnessed constant development of cooperation in various fields.

China is grateful to Tanzania for its support on issues regarding China's major concerns and core interests, Ma continued.

The Chinese PLA and the Tanzanian PDF have conducted long-term and close cooperation, frequent exchange of high-level visits and active communications in various professional areas, Ma said.

Chinese air force attaches importance to developing relations with the Tanzanian air force and is willing to continue to offer assistance within its available resources for the development of Tanzanian air force, so as to push forward and consolidate the traditional friendly cooperative relations between the two air forces, Ma told his Tanzanian counterpart.

Ingram said that the Tanzania-China relations have been developing smoothly in recent years, Tanzania is willing to carry out more exchange and cooperation with China in various fields.

Tanzania is grateful for the long-term and selfless assistance China has provided for Tanzania, Ingram said, adding that the Tanzanian air force, which was founded and has been developing with the help of the Chinese air force, pays high attention to developing relations with the Chinese air force and is willing to promote the friendly cooperation between the two air forces.
