GUANGZHOU, May 12, (ChinaMil) -- The 16th Chinese peacekeeping construction and engineer detachment to Lebanon held a founding and departure ceremony at an engineer and chemical defense brigade under the 74th Group Army of the Chinese PLA Army on Thursday.

The detachment consists of 200 members mainly from the engineer and chemical defense brigade under the 74th Group Army of the PLA Army. The detachment is composed of two plane-construction platoons, two three-dimensional-construction platoons and a combat logistics support platoon.

All members of the detachment are scheduled to leave China in two batches on May 18 and 25 respectively by plane for their mission areas in southern Lebanon adjacent to the boundary between Lebanon and Israel.

They will perform one-year missions including construction project, boundary-marker erection, facility construction, facility maintenance, humanitarian assistance and so forth.
