BEIJING, May 16 (ChinaMil) -- General Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department under the CMC, met with General Hulusi Akar, chief of general staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, in Beijing on the morning of May 15, 2017.

Gen. Fang Fenghui said that under the leadership and promotion of the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Turkish President Erdogan, the Sino-Turkish relations have been continuously developed in recent years, with enhanced political mutual trust and strengthened pragmatic cooperation.

The two presidents met again at the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation held in Beijing and reached important consensus, pointing out the direction and blueprint for the development of bilateral relations, Gen. Fang added.

Gen. Fang said that China is willing to work with the Turkish side to adhere to the strategic perspective in planning and developing the relationship between the two militaries, respect and take care for each other's core concerns, enhance exchanges in anti-terrorism and security assurance for the Belt and Road Initiative based on consolidating and deepening cooperation in high-level mutual visits, personnel training, joint training and other areas, promote cooperation mechanism, and strive to elevate the relationship between the two militaries to a new level.

Gen. Akar said that he is very confident in the future development of bilateral relations between Turkey and China.

He said that the Turkish military is willing to further enhance the level of cooperation with the Chinese armed forces, strengthen cooperation with China in such fields as joint training, counter-terrorism and exchanges between young officers under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to inject new impetus into the continuous development of the relations between the two militaries and the two countries.
