Korla ready for International Army Games 2017

KORLA, July 28 (ChinaMil) -- A press conference on the four competitions of the International Army Games (IAG) 2017 hosted by the Chinese PLA Army was held on Thursday afternoon in Korla, the location of the four events.

Colonel Tan Yingshuai, spokesperson of the PLA Army and deputy director of the Publicity Bureau of the Political Work Department of the PLA Army, answered questions regarding preparatory work and rules of the competitions.

This is the first press conference hosted by PLA Army since the establishment of its leading body.

Four events of the IAG 2017 hosted by the PLA Army are the Suvorov Attack, the Clear Sky, the Safe Environment and the Gunsmith Master, which will take place in Korla City of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, from July 30 to August 12.

A total of 477 participants of 23 teams from China, Angola, Belarus, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe have all entered the competition venues in Korla and have completed the drawing and adaptive training.

According to Tan, in the four competitions, there will be an increased number of obstacles for combat vehicles and firepower strike batches in a bid to improve the difficulty and intensity of the events.

All the participating teams will use the equipment provided by the Chinese side in the four competitions, except the Russian team which will use their own equipment in Suvorov Attack.
