RIGA, August 5 (ChinaMil) -- A fleet of the Chinese PLA Navy composed of three warships arrived in Riga, capital of Latvia, on Saturday morning to start a three-day goodwill visit to Latvia. It is the first time that Chinese naval fleet has paid a visit to Latvia.
The three Chinese warships are the guided missile destroyer Hefei, the guided missile frigate Yuncheng and the supply ship Luomahu. They arrived in Russia's Baltic city of Kaliningrad on July 21 to participate in the China-Russia joint naval exercise code-named Joint Sea 2017 in Baltic Sea in late July.
Rear Admiral Yu Manjiang, deputy commander of the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy and commanding officer of the visiting Chinese naval fleet, said that the visit of his fleet to Riga will help deepen the friendship between the naval troops of the two countries and further promote the friendly exchange between the two navies.
During the visit, the Chinese naval fleet will receive public visit to its warships and hold deck reception. Rear Admiral Yu Manjiang will meet with senior military and government officials of Latvia.
