Mexican naval vessel Cuauhtemoc visits Shanghai

SHANGHAI, August 18 (ChinaMil) -- The Mexican navy's training vessel ARM Cuauhtemoc (BE01) docked in China's Shanghai City on Thursday morning for a six-day friendly visit. This is the fifth time that Mexican navy vessel visits Shanghai.


The East China Sea Fleet of the Chinese PLA Navy held a welcome ceremony at a naval base for the visiting vessel ARM Cuauhtemoc upon its arrival.


As part of a goodwill mission to commemorate 100 years since the proclamation of Mexico's constitution, the Mexican navy's ship set off from the western port of Acapulco in February on a 289-day voyage to 15 ports in 12 countries. And Shanghai is the important stop of its global tour.


Officers and soldiers of the two navies will have mutual ship visit, friendly basketball competition, deck reception and other activities during the visit.


Cuauhtemoc is 90.5 meters in length and 12 meters in width. Its full displacement is 1,800 tons and the maximum speed is 17 knots.
