DUSCHANBE, Aug. 29 (ChinaMil) -- President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Gen. Li Zuocheng, chief of the Joint Staff Department under China' s Central Military Commission (CMC) on Monday morning.
Rahmon asked Li to convey his cordial greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said Tajikistan and China are good neighbors and good partners, and in recent years, the two countries have witnessed rapid development of cooperation in political, economic and security areas.
Tajikistan is willing to strengthen cooperation and work together with China to deal with terrorism threats and security challenges and to effectively combat the “three evil forces”—terrorism, separatism and extremism, Rahmon said.
Li conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Rahmon.
President Xi and H.E. President Rahmon have met many times, making guidance to the high-level operation of China-Tajikistan strategic partnership, Li said.
China is willing to work with Tajikistan to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, deepen pragmatic military exchange and cooperation, enhance mutual assistance under the framework of the Quadrilateral Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism (QCCM) in Counter Terrorism by Afghanistan-China-Pakistan-Tajikistan Armed Forces/Militaries, to form a strong joint force in combating regional terrorism and make contributions to safeguarding regional peace and prosperity, Li added.
Tajik Defence Minister Sherdil Mirzo held Sunday a welcoming ceremony for Li Zuocheng and the two sides had a work meeting on the same day.
