Chinese naval training ship Qi Jiguang completes ocean-going mission

DALIAN, Dec. 8 (ChinaMil) -- The Chinese naval training ship Qi Jiguang returned Thursday to its home port in Dalian, Liaoning Province after completing the 82-day-l ocean-going training and four-nation visit mission with a voyage exceeding 23,000 nautical miles in 82 days.

The training ship, which set sail from Dalian on Sept.17, carried 370 cadets from the Naval University of Engineering, the Dalian Naval Academy, the Naval Submarine Academy, the Navy Aviation University, the Navy Medical University and the Navy Noncommissioned Officer Academy, who got seamanship training during the voyage and paid goodwill visits to Portugal, Italy, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

During the port calls, the Chinese naval cadets paid visits to foreign military academies, bases and warships, the training ship Qi Jiguang received 16,000 visitors.
