27th Chinese naval escort taskforce leaves Gulf of Aden after mission handover

GULF OF ADEN, Dec 27 (ChinaMil) -- The 27th and 28th Chinese naval escort taskforces held a ceremony marking their mission handover and separate navigation in the western waters of the Gulf of Aden on Tuesday afternoon.

The 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived at the eastern waters of the Gulf of Aden on Dec. 23 and joined the 27th escort taskforce to carry out escort tasks in the next two days. It started to perform escort missions independently after bidding farewell to the 27th escort taskforce on Tuesday.

According to the schedule, the 27th escort taskforce will pay friendly visits to related countries.

Since China sent its first naval escort taskforce to Gulf of Aden in 2008, the 27 escort taskforces have provided escort for more than 6,400 Chinese and foreign merchant vessels in 1,109 batches.
