Chinese naval ships wrap up visit to Algeria

ALGIERS, Jan. 12 (ChinaMil) -- The 27th Chinese naval escort taskforce consisting of the guided-missile destroyer Haikou, the guided-missile frigate Yueyang and the comprehensive supply ship Qinghaihu completed a four-day friendly visit to Algeria on the morning of Jan. 11, local time.

During the visit, the commanding officers of the taskforce called on Commodore Szarmach, commander of the Algerian Navy's central base, visited the Navy Academy of Algeria.

Szarmach expressed his warm welcome to the visiting Chinese fleet and hoped the two navies would further strengthen exchanges.

The taskforce also hosted a deck reception and invited overseas Chinese in Algeria and Algerian naval personnel to visit its warships. Friendly basketball and football matches were held between sailors of both sides.

After leaving Algiers, the 27th Chinese naval escort taskforce will head next to Tunisia for friendly visit.
