BEIRUT, Jan. 26 (ChinaMil) -- The United Nations (UN) conducted an equipment inspection to the 16th Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineer detachment to Lebanon on Jan. 22, 2018.
All equipment, materials, and hardware facilities of the Chinese peacekeeping unit passed the 31-hour examination at once.
A 16-member UN inspection team conducted examinations on seven types of major equipment of the Chinese peacekeeping troops including vehicles, machinery, mine sweeping equipment, guns and ammunition and so on.
16 UN inspectors also inspected 11 types of self-sustained equipment including communication and medical service equipment through data analysis, random personal interview and other means.
The equipment examination was related to the update of data of the UN Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) system, and it even covered the technical performance of the vehicles ' machinery as well as accessories and medications. The content, scope, and standard of this examination all exceeded any inspections in the past.
According to Zhu Lv, deputy leader of the Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineering unit, it was a very important routine work for the peacekeeping troops to do a good job in equipment maintenance before they can conduct peacekeeping missions.
Zhu added that the Chinese peacekeeping unit received hundreds of tons of materials and equipment during the rotation deployment. The second batch of supply arrived early this month and ensured that all equipment and facilities were repaired and maintained on a timely manner.
It was precisely because all the equipment was in good condition that the Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineering unit could pass all examination smoothly, Zhu said.
The 16th Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineer detachment has successfully passed three UN examinations since its deployment to the mission area in later May, 2017.
