China's Central Military Commission (CMC) has launched an inspection into the implementation of a system in which the CMC chairman has overall responsibility over the military.

A total of six inspection teams have been sent to carry out the three-month project, which targets the units of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the leaders and members of the Party committees of the CMC organs.

A mobilization meeting for the inspection held on Thursday was attended by Zhang Youxia, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the CMC.

The responsibility system contains the CPC's experience and tradition in building and running the military, and is the core system to ensure the absolute Party leadership over the military, Zhang said while addressing the meeting.

He asked for closer inspection of issues including political loyalty, the effect of the implementation of the system, the selection and appointment of officials and others.

He also called for adherence to the Party principles, higher capabilities in serving duties and strict observation of discipline.
