WAU, South Sudan, May 10 (ChinaMil) -- The 8th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment to South Sudan (Wau) passed the United Nations (UN) equipment verification on Tuesday with all the items meeting the verification requirements.

This is the third time that the 8th Chinese peacekeeping engineering detachment has passed the UN equipment inspection since deployment in the mission area in last September.

An inspection team of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) officials inspected the machinery, vehicles, power generators, medical facilities of the detachment, Chinese engineers were required to give on-site demonstrations of operating their equipment. The UN inspection team also conducted detailed verification of communication and logistics materials.

Since deployed to the mission area at the end of September last year, the 8th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment has completed multiple tasks including the construction of UNMISS employees' base floor units and watchtowers in the UNMISS camp and reinforcement of defense works in the peacekeeping troops' camp area and so on.
