Russia has held a major military parade in St.Petersburg to mark its annual Navy Day. Over four thousand personnel took part in Sunday's event. The parade involved about forty warships and some thirty aircraft from the country's Baltic, Black Sea, Northern and Pacific fleets. President Vladimir Putin watched the parade with military officials. The Chinese Type 052C destroyer Xi'an was also on display. It is the second time that China has sent its vessels to join Russia's Navy Day parade. The ship will be open for public tours.
