The memberships of three individuals on the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee were revoked by March 1, as the country's top political advisory body strengthens management of its members, a spokesman said on Saturday.

They are Zeng Zhiquan, a former member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and former head of the provincial United Front Work Department; Meng Hongwei, former vice-minister of public security, and Shu Yuhui, chairman and founder of Tianjin-based drugmaker Quanjian Nature Medicine Technology Development Co Ltd, according to Guo Weimin, spokesman for the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee

Two people have been asked to resign from the CPPCC National Committee. They are Xue Cheng, former president of the Buddhist Association of China, and Du Jiangtao, chairman of the Inner Mongolia Junzheng Energy and Chemical Industry Co Ltd, he said.

People who have seriously harmed the interest of the country and the people, and those who are convicted or suspected of violating laws and regulations should not be named members of the CPPCC National Committee, Guo said.

Those guilty of social and moral misconduct should make timely corrections; otherwise they should resign from the committee, he added.

Members of the CPPCC National Committee are required to submit a work report and take part in training every year, and the committee keeps records on all members, he said.
