July 5, 1969, the prototype of J-8 made a successful maiden flight, indicating that the Chinese aviation industry had begun its independent design and R&D. This double-engine, high-altitude and high-speed fighter was of great significance for China. As the main fighters in PLAAF and PLAN aviation force from the 1980s to early 21st century, it fought against multiple types of foreign warplanes and made great contributions to safeguarding the country’s air space.
