On October 25, 1950, the first campaign of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea began. This campaign lasted for 13 days, and the CPV annihilated 15,000 enemy troops and drove the US-led UN forces from the Yalu River to the south of the Chongchon River. It shattered the US military's plan to occupy all the Korea before Thanksgiving Day and gave the Korean People's Army time to overhaul.
