This overcoat made of wool and cotton fibers was given by the then Premier of DPRK Kim Il Sung to Deng Hua, deputy commander of the Chinese People's Volunteer (CPV) in 1950. It is a historical testimony of the friendship between China and the DPRK.
Deng Hua is the deputy commander and deputy political commissar of the CPV. At the headquarters of the CPV in Taeyu-dong located in North Pyongan Province, North Korea, CPV Commander Peng Dehuai and Deng Hua often had meetings with Kim Il Sung making important decisions and campaign deployment. They established close and sincere friendship.
On November 5, 1950, Kim Il Sung came to Taeyu-dong to discuss important combat issues with Peng Dehuai, Deng Hua and other CPV leaders. It was very cold in the depth of winter, and the heating equipment in Taeyu-dong was very simple and crude. Seeing that Deng was dressed in thin clothes, Kim Il Sung immediately took off his wool coat he was wearing, gave it to Deng Hua, and put it on him. Deng Hua and the other CPV leaders present were deeply touched. This ordinary wool coat is the witness of Kim Il Sung's deep affection and kindness to the CPV. The coat has become a historical testimony to the profound friendship between the peoples of China and DPRK.
