China's peacekeeping helicopter detachment to Sudan passes UN equipment verification

DARFUR, Nov. 13 (ChinaMil) -- China’s second peacekeeping helicopter detachment to Darfur in Sudan passed the fourth-quarter equipment verification organized by the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) on November 11, local time. This is the first equipment verification that the detachment has received since its deployment to the mission area.

After listening to the detachment’s briefing in the morning, seven verification officials of the UNAMID carefully inspected and assessed 63 items of materials and equipment in 29 categories, including weapons and ammunition, vehicle machinery, barrack facilities, water purification, communication and medical equipment, and welfare facilities and etc,.

The assessment confirmed that all the equipment of the detachment meet the standards set by the United Nations (UN) and are in line with the needs of self-sustainment and implementation of peacekeeping missions.

At the end of the verification, the head of the Self-Sustainment Equipment Verification Team of UNAMID gave full credit to the detachment’s good work.
