Carry forward the spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and improve the capability of combat readiness

Panmunjom, a small village initially unknown, became famous worldwide after July 27, 1953.
The DPRK-China delegation and the "UN Forces" delegation held a solemn armistice signing ceremony here on that morning.
The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea is the first large-scale international local war after World War II. The total strength put by the two sides into the war exceeded three million. The Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) soldiers, together with the DPRK army, fought bloody battles and finally won the great victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
It is a victory for justice, a victory for peace, and a victory for the people! The great victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke the myth of the invincibility of the US troops, won national prestige for the newly-founded People’s Republic of China and demonstrated prowess of the Chinese People's Volunteers, and safeguarded peace in Asia and the world.
At a meeting in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the CPV entering into the DPRK in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea held on October 23, 2020, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the war is a just move of an army for justice . The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government were left with no other choice, so they dispatched the CPV to resist US aggression and aid Korea. Thanks to this righteous move, the CPV soldiers, with the vigorous fighting spirit and high morale, continued to create miracles on the battlefield, and could also win the sympathy, support and assistance from peace-loving countries and people around the world and eventually won a great victory.
The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea uses ironclad facts to tell the world that if any country or army, no matter how powerful it is, stands on the opposite side of the world's development trend, bullies the weak, acts in opposition to right principles and expands aggressively, it will inevitably lead to a dead end. This war once again proves that justice will surely defeat power, and peaceful development is an unstoppable historical trend!
It has long been known that the real experts on military affairs do not want to employ military means to solve issues . Seventy years ago, the Chinese people, who had just stood up from the flames of war, deeply understood the cruelty of war and the preciousness of peace. They were more eager to live a peaceful life. When the imperialist invaders spread the flames of war to the doorstep of the newly born People’s Republic of China, the Chinese people knew that it is necessary to speak to invaders in the language they know, that is, a war must be fought to deter invasion, a victory is needed to win peace and respect.
We cherish peace, but we do not beg for it. We oppose the war, but we are not afraid of fighting. Wars serve as a mirror that can make people better realize the preciousness of peace. In today's world, pursuing unilateralism, protectionism, and extreme egoism leads nowhere. Blackmail, blockades, and extreme pressure on others will simply not work. Arrogance, always doing as one pleases, acts of hegemony, overvearance and bullying will lead nowhere. It will eventually lead to a dead end.
An awakened nation that dares to fight for the glory, independence, and security of the motherland is invincible. In the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the Chinese people were united in one mind, shared the same hatred, dared to fight, and dared to win. The whole nation supported this great fight that concerns the future and destiny of the country and the whole nation. The war reminded the world that "the people of China are now organized, and are not to be trifled with ; and it is not easy to stop them once they are riled up ."
The national self-confidence, national pride, and production enthusiasm of the Chinese people have been greatly improved. And the domestic economic construction was not hugely affected. Instead, it recovered quickly. In September 1953, Peng Dehuai, the then commander-in-chief of CPV forces, returned to China from the Korean battlefield. He said with emotion: "Our people have never been as highly united both spiritually and politically as they are today, the relationship between the Chinese people of all ethnic groups have never been as amicable and united as it is today, and the patriotism of our people has never been so vigorous as it is today."
Laying the foundation for peace with victory and defending justice with strength is the best answer for an army to its mission. President Xi said in his speech that China will never seek hegemony nor expansion and is firmly opposed to hegemonism and power politics. Chinese people will never sit idly by and allow China's sovereignty, security and development interests to be undermined, will never allow any individual or force to infringe or divide the sacred territory of China and if such situations occur, they will certainly deal with them head-on . The officers and soldiers of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army must vigorously inherit and carry forward the great spirit forged in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, stay true to their original mission, strengthen their belief in victory, always maintain a high level of vigilance and comprehensively improve the strategic capabilities in defending national sovereignty, security and development interests. Only in this way can they better fulfill the mission and tasks in the new era and provide stronger strategic support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
