DALIAN, Nov. 10 -- On November 9, 2025, the Chinese PLA Navy's 83rd taskforce, composed of the training ship Qi Jiguang (Hull 83) and the amphibious dock landing ship Yimengshan (Hull 988), returned to Dalian City in northeast China's Liaoning Province after successfully completing its ocean-going training and visit mission.
Since setting sail on September 26, 2025, the 83rd taskforce has travelled for 45 days, covering a voyage of about 8,000 nautical miles, and transiting the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea, the South China Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and other sea areas. During the voyage, the ships Qi Jiguang and Yimengshan held open ship day activities in Hong Kong and visited Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore successively.
The midshipmen onboard were dispatched by the PLA Dalian Naval Academy, Naval Submarine Academy, and Naval Medical University. In addition, seven foreign military cadets from five countries including Bangladesh and Pakistan were incorporated in turn for mixed-group training. The mission has effectively enhanced the professional skills and international view of the midshipmen, and deepened the friendship and mutual trust between the Chinese military and the military and the people of the visited countries.
