WAU, South Sudan, May 15 -- The 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) recently helped the local authorities complete a special road obstacle clearance mission, fully restoring road traffic and ensuring the safety of local residents and the smooth flow of supply routes.
Not long ago, a large obstacle occupied most part of a road section, allowing only single-lane traffic. This seriously affected the daily lives and travel safety of the local people.
Upon receiving the mission, the contingent conducted on-site surveys and deployed machinery including excavators, tractors, and cutting machines. Strictly following UN engineering standards and safety regulations, the peacekeepers carried out the clearance operations in an orderly manner while implementing strict risk prevention measures.
After completing the task, the Chinese peacekeepers also leveled and compacted the surrounding potholed road, earning high praise from the local community.
