WAU, South Sudan, July 22 -- The 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) recently completed a security facility reinforcement mission at the Kuajok detachment point and cleared obstacles affecting security and defense, earning recognition and praise from the United Nations.

The Kuajok detachment point serves as a critical logistics support node along the main supply route (MSR) connecting Kuajok and Abiemnhom, where the neighboring security environment is complex and population movement is frequent. Affected by severe weather, multiple sections of the protective barrier walls were damaged, parts of the barbed wire fencing were broken, and guard tower protective facilities were inadequate. Some security positions also had observation blind spots and defense vulnerabilities, posing significant security risks.

Upon receiving the mission, the contingent organized technical personnel to inspect all security facilities, identify and record damaged areas, assess potential risks, and formulate a construction plan based on actual conditions.

During the project, the contingent carried out the work in an orderly manner, replacing severely damaged barbed wire, installing additional warning facilities and nighttime lighting, and thoroughly clearing obstacles blocking security and defense facilities. The completion of the mission has significantly enhanced the security and defense capabilities of the Kuajok detachment point.
