JUBA, July 27 -- On July 23, 2026, the 12th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) completed an armed patrol mission from the capital, Juba, to the Mongalla region.
The Mongalla region is avital supply route connecting Juba with the northern states. This patrol covered a round trip distance of more than190 kilometers, passing through urban areas, villages and other terrain, as well as nine checkpoints and two dead zones. The complex road conditions and security situation tested the contingent's overall response capabilities.
After four hours of maneuver, the contingent successfully arrived in the Mongalla region. Subsequently, the Chinese commander met with the local government and police officials, and the two sides held in-depth exchanges on strengthening combined military and police coordination mechanisms and deepening security cooperation.
