BEIJING, Aug. 20 -- The 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), together with some UN military observers, personnel of the joint inspection mechanism, and local language assistants, recently conducted the joint security survey and long-distance patrol tasks at Rego, Nyori, Rijong, and other regions in South Sudan.

The long-distance patrol lasted for three days and two nights, covering a total distance of over 230 kilometers. The patrol route included four armed checkpoints and more than 110 kilometers of signal dead zone.

Regu region belongs to the Central Equatoria State in South Sudan. The people of this region mainly live in tribal groups, suffering frequent violent incidents. The Chinese peacekeepers designated this region as a key mission area and set up a Temporary Operations Base (TOB) there for regular patrols radiating into the surrounding areas to conduct security surveys, particularly special investigations into the protection of women and children's rights and interests, humanitarian crises, as well as vicious criminal cases such as robbery, murder and sexual violence. By doing so, Chinese peacekeepers provided assistance for the local government and schools, thereby effectively stabilizing the local security situation.

The Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion has established TOBs at multiple hotspots in South Sudan. It has successfully maintained local security and stability through security patrols, security surveys, humanitarian assistances, and various other actions, demonstrating that the Chinese military is a responsible and peace-loving force.
