WAU, South Sudan, Aug. 21 -- On August 20, local time, the 15th Chinese Peacekeeping Force to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) successfully passed the UNMISS combat readiness capability assessment, with all the items meeting the standards prescribed by the UN.

The combat readiness capability assessment, as an important evaluation of UN peacekeeping forces, covers staffing, weapons and equipment, engineering support, emergency response, medical aid, and many other aspects. Through methods such as debriefing, comprehensive demonstration exercises, and on-site inspections and inquiries, the assessment team assessed the overall combat readiness capability of the Chinese peacekeeping force on over 100 items in 11 categories.

During the assessment, in response to such training subjects as temporary operating base (TOB) establishment, apron construction, field defense works construction, and medical evacuation, the Chinese peacekeepers accurately completed engineering support, tactical collaboration, medical aid for the wounded, the evacuation of civilians, and other tasks. The assessment team gave full recognition to the Chinese peacekeepers for their professional skills and actual combat capabilities.
