BEIJNG, Sept. 10 -- "China remains the force for global peace, stability and progress. The more capable the Chinese military, the stronger the force for defending peace and preventing war and the more likely it is to ensure peace and stability," said Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense at a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to reports, following China's V-Day military parade on September 3rd, international think tanks and foreign media focused their analysis on China's nuclear triad of land-, sea-, and air-based missiles, unmanned combat equipment, cyberspace combat force, and so on. Some media analyzed that China intends to demonstrate that military coercion against it will not work.

The spokesperson first reaffirmed that the military parade is an important part of the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

"It comprehensively demonstrates the new ethos of the People's Army in the new era through political building, the fresh structure of forces, the latest progress in the modernization of national defense and the army, and the new achievements in enhancing combat preparedness," explained Senior Colonel Jiang.

According to him, many of the reviewed weapons and equipment represent the latest advancements in the evolution of modern warfare, including some major strategic assets. Together, they highlighted the systematic combating competence, the new-domain forces with new combat capabilities, and the strategic deterrence power of Chinese military.

"Only the ability to fight is what deters war. China pursues a defense policy that is defensive in nature and will never seek hegemony or expansion," stressed the spokesperson.
