BEIJING, Nov. 25 -- The Chinese PLA Navy's 989 Task Group concluded its friendly visit to Vietnam and set sail for Malaysia from Cam Ranh Port on November 25, 2025.
The task group arrived in Vietnam on Nov. 21. During its stay, the commander of the Chinese naval task group paid a visit to the Deputy Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy Region 4 Command and had in-depth exchange. The Chinese sailors toured the Vietnam People's Navy Region 4 Command and the Vietnam Naval Academy, where they held symposiums with the Vietnamese counterparts. The Chinese naval task group also held open ship day activities for local overseas Chinese and Vietnamese naval members.
On the evening of Nov. 23, the Chinese naval task group hosted a deck reception aboard the amphibious dock landing ship Changbaishan (Hull 989). The reception event included cultural interactive displays featuring Chinese traditions such as tea art, calligraphy and paper-cutting.
Over 100 guests were invited to the reception, including representatives from the Vietnamese Navy, foreign officers and cadets training with the Chinese naval task group.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. This visit to Vietnam holds positive implications for the continuation of traditional friendship between China and Vietnam and the deepening of practical cooperation between the two militaries.
