BEIRUT, Feb. 13 -- The 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) conducted a combat drill codenamed "Exercise Tiger" at Camp 5-10 on February 11, 2026.
Simulating a crisis scenario of personnel evacuation during a sudden conflict, the drill focused on key aspects including early warning, command and control, personnel identification, camp lockdown, external rescue, medical aid, and emergency firefighting.
During the drill, an observation and guidance team from the UNIFIL inspected the critical components such as assembly point security, shelter setup, bunker protection, and medical support. Ashraf ALQA, the UNIFIL exercise coordinator, gave full recognition to the standardized procedures and the well-organized facility layout demonstrated by the Chinese peacekeeping contingent.
It is reported that "Exercise Tiger" is the inaugural subject of a series of UNIFIL drills. Its primary objective is to test the feasibility of evacuating UN employees and local residents to the Chinese peacekeeping camp in batches during major conflicts in the mission area, while evaluating the security and protection capabilities of the Chinese peacekeeping forces.
