BEIJING, Mar. 13 -- On March 11, 2026, the 6th Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) passed the equipment inspection organized by the United Nations for the first quarter of 2026.

The inspection was organized and led by the self-sustainment equipment section of UNISFA. It covered key areas including barracks living facilities, general-purpose vehicles[PH1.1] and helicopter equipment, weapons and ammunition management, medical evacuation equipment, emergency supply reserves, and individual combat readiness gear. The assessment focused on equipment serviceability rates, material support availability, routine maintenance, and the unit's capability to sustain missions. All equipment and materials of the detachment met UN peacekeeping mission standards, demonstrating its capability to continuously carry out peacekeeping tasks in the Abyei region.

Since its deployment to the mission area, the unit has established a regular inspection and maintenance mechanism for equipment tailored to Abyei’s high temperatures, dusty conditions, and complex environment. Special attention has been given to the full life-cycle maintenance of key equipment such as helicopters, vehicles, and medical assets, ensuring that all remain in a high state of operational readiness.
